When a global leader like Microsoft hosts a major event, expectations are extremely high. gassProductions was proud to be specifically requested by Vibration Production to deliver technical video production for this flagship experience, organised by Momentum Worldwide.

Project Requirements

The event required a robust, high-quality four-camera IMAG and ISO recording solution. This content supported live display, streaming and post-event distribution. Furthermore, the system needed to operate seamlessly across multiple event spaces.

  • 🎧 Independent comms ring for director and camera crew

Production Approach

To meet the brief, gassProductions deployed a multi-camera system consisting of:

  • 3 long-throw operated cameras

  • 1 wireless roaming camera

  • 2 PTZ cameras (audience reverse and wide lock-off)

All feeds were routed through our portable production unit (PPU), which included a 3kVA UPS and central vision mixing systems. This setup allowed full remote shading and racking across all cameras.

Streaming & Redundancy

We streamed the live programme using a redundant four-encoder setup. The system bonded Ethernet, Wi-Fi and 4Gnetworks to guarantee reliability. In addition, a cloud-based failover system automatically switched streams in the event of disruption. As a result, Microsoft received an uninterrupted broadcast via its RTMP-based CDN.

File Delivery & Handover

Alongside the live stream, we captured ISO recordings of every camera feed, the programme mix, all slide content and backup audio.

A dedicated 10TB drive containing all assets was prepared and shipped to Microsoft, with full backups retained in line with our data retention policy.
